Faerie Dance

Faerie Dance (c)
In the dead of night
In the bright moonlight
All the fields cast off a glow
Where the faerie dance
Among the trees and plants
Where the wildflower carpet grows
And the moon will fall
‘til the rooster calls
And the wild things go below
And the light of day
Keeps the folk away
‘til the evening brings another show
In the winter cold
There are legends old
About the magic in the snow
All the sparkling white
Makes the meadows bright
A dreamy stage where the breezes blow
And the moon will fall
‘til the rooster calls
And the wild things go below
And the light of day
Keeps the folk away
‘til the evening brings another show
There’s an arch of stone
And a faerie throne
Where the King surveys the land
And a creek that plays
As the arms are raised
And the dancers twirl to the band
And the moon will fall
‘til the rooster calls
And the wild things go below
And the light of day
Keeps the folk away
‘til the evening brings another show
Tag:
And the unicorn waves his magic horn
As he prances to and fro
And the light of day keeps the folk away
‘til the evening brings another show
And the light of day keeps the folk away
‘til the evening brings another show

Country Sounds

Country Sounds (c)
Out on the wide open prairies of the midwestern plains
Or the high, high mountains of the Rocky range
There’s a wind that sighs, that speaks right to my soul.
I am on my way to a new horizon
Travelin’ on the ground but my heart is flyin’
Those bright lights are gone,
You can hear the bullfrogs roar!
And it’s the sound of a light rain fallin’
The sound of a whippoorwill callin’
And the sound of a wind that’s knockin’ at my door.
The city’s no place for a country boy
I’ll take a four-wheel drive over any Rolls Royce
‘Cause it’s a good, good life and the country is calling me home.
I’m always in a hurry to be moving along,
Never slowing down pretending nothing’s wrong
‘Cause life is short, and you do what you gotta do
I am tired of running from hither and yon
Think I’ll pack my bags and be traveling on
To a place in my mind,
A place that always gets me through.
The sound of a light rain falling
The sound of a whippoorwill calling
The sound of a light rain falling
(Fade out)

Jasper

Jasper (c)
Jasper was a loner and he lived down by the park
He used a worn-out blanket to keep warm when it got dark
If you had time to listen oh the stories he could tell
About a time when he was young and living oh so well
Cars and money were his life and a big house all his own
Somewhere he lost three kids and a wife
‘cause he didn’t have time for home
No he didn’t have time for home.
Jasper was a millionaire with money in the bank
He’d reached the top but couldn’t stop to give the Lord his thanks
So he gave his hoard to help the poor and he traveled on his thumb
Jasper lived a simple life for he was just a bum
A dumpster was his grocery store and hunger was a friend
To pass the time he drank his wine and chatted with the wind
Yeah he chatted with the wind
Jasper thanked the Lord above for the way in which he’d come
His friends condemned the life of sin they saw in Jasper’s rum
They knew so well the road to hell that they couldn’t see the light
That shown in Jasper’s eyes when he helped hobos through the night
Life was hard as winter came and Jasper was growing old
But he loved to share with the others there
As they shivered in the cold
Yeah they shivered in the cold.
On a summer day they found him laying under a willow tree
And none could say when he passed away for he died there in his sleep
He left a life of power and strife and became a better man
Now God has taken him away up to that promised land
Jasper gave his life on earth so that he could save his soul
But the choice he made was well repaid for he’s walking the streets of gold
Yeah he’s walking the streets of gold.
He’s walking the streets of gold.

Sirensong
The river flows so strong and deep
Moving mountains to the sea
And the waters play a melody
If you hear my song then follow me
Your soul is mine
I am your destiny
The wind blows softly through the trees
Whisp’ring music in the leaves
And the air echoes a rhapsody
If you hear my song then follow me
Your soul is mine
I am your destiny
A young man seems so wild and free
Until he hears a siren’s plea
Come and join my cause give all to me
If you hear my song then follow me
Your soul is mine
I am your destiny

Uncle Wiggily
My Grandpa was a wondrous man, his mind was quick as fire
And he would tell me stories of which I would never tire
He found it so amazing how demanding I could be
When I begged for another one, these words he’d sing to me
And he’d sing tell me a story, tell me a story,
Tell me a story, remember what you said
You promised me, you said you would
You’ve gotta give in so’s I’ll be good
Tell me a story, and then I’ll go to bed.
Well I don’t hear his tales no more, since I don’t have the time
But the stories he told me remain forever in my mind
Uncle Wiggily, Dr. Duck, and all the Bad Chaps, too
Now I see them everywhere—his stories all were true
And he’d sing tell me a story, tell me a story,
Tell me a story, remember what you said
You promised me, you said you would
You’ve gotta give in so’s I’ll be good
Tell me a story, and then I’ll go to bed.
Tag: Well I’ll tell you a story about Jack and Lenoree
And now my stee-ory is begun
I’ll tell you another about Jack and his brother
And now my stee-ory is done.

It's Not True

It’s Not True
I was talking to my son at home the other day
He was telling me about his friends and how they would play
I guess some kids had told him that he wouldn’t be cool
Unless he broke a window, at the local swimming pool
(And I said)
It’s not true
Son, don’t you listen to the lies they told you
Sometimes the road to happiness seems lonesome and blue
But someday you’ll find out the truth
He shook his little head and ask me, “How can that be?
My friends can help me be the man that I want to be
I know God wants the best for me and I’d be alright
My friends tell me two wrongs can make a right.”
(And I said)
It’s not true
Son, don’t you listen to the lies they told you
Sometimes the road to happiness seems lonesome and blue
But someday you’ll find out the truth
I laid in bed awhile that night, my mind searching back
Through all the times that I had made decisions like that
I know it’s hard sometimes to hear the small voice inside
When all the strings are coming untied
(But I always say)
It’s not true
Son, don’t you listen to the lies they told you
Sometimes the road to happiness seems lonesome and blue
But someday you’ll find out the truth

The Elf

The Elf
There once lived an elf, who loved to play
Songs on the guitar in his own special way
He’d put some magic in those old worn out strings
And the music he played was not like anything
And he played…(harmonic open sequence)
Down through the ages he’d gathered up some gold
And hid it all away in a place he’d never told
One day a man came down and said I’ll have your gold for me
But the elf only smiled and played his magic melody
And he played…(harmonic open sequence)
The man grabbed the elf and said “Then you shall live no more.”
And he left the elf for dead lying prone upon the floor
But still on nights when stars are bright, and the moon shines like the day
A magic music fills the air, where the old elf loves to play.
And he plays…
